BOOK OF GYNECOLOGY

Fundamentals Of Gynaecology by Dr. Arshad Chohan, is so far the best book of Gynecology in Pakistan, by a Pakistan based author. It is the most widely read book by the students of Medical Profession, throughout the country, across the provinces... Those who want to get their basics clear , and those who are specializing in the field read it as a first aid book on the subject. Highly recommended book for the students of M.B;B.S. and FCPS.

                                                                      PREFACE

The quality of a book is better judged by the reader than the writer. As an undergraduate student I was in search of a book that would be easy to read, gives a solid understanding of the subject and has high reproducibility and I believe I was not different from the other undergraduate students. It was the time when I first decided that i will write such a textbook in future.
When I entered into practical training, I felt the need for a book which should be useful in converting the theoretical knowledge into clinical practice. As a postgraduate candidate I needed a book which could provide me a foundation in the subject of gynaecology on which I could expand my clinical knowledge and skills in the light of recent advances in the specialty.
Fundamentals of Gynaecology has been written by keeping all these aspects in mind which make it suitable for undergraduate students, postgraduate trainees and practicing doctors. The book has been written in simple English, fortified with illustrations and tables and every subject is described using headings and subheadings which make it easy to read, understand and reproduce.
The text is described in 32 chapters. The volume of every chapter is weighed against the need of suggested readers and the element of personal bias is kept aside to the maximum. I have tried to do justice with every subject covered in the book but I believe that areas describing a clilincal feature like Amenorrhoea, dysmenorrhoea, abnormal uterine bleeding, urinary incontinence, hirsutism and infertility will attract the reader the most.
The matter in this book is incorporaed in such a way that it enhances the clinical applicability of a well-understood subject and I am sure that a routine gynaecological patient can easily be managed by simply reading this book.
Postgraduate training and preparation for examination is always deficient without a solid knowledge of basic facts. I hope that Fundamentals of Gynaecology will prove as a foundation in the attainment of thorough clinical knowledge by postgraduate trainees.
